Summary: The influence of three types of phosphate amendment (phospal, phosphogypsum and mixing phosphogypsum/tricalcium phosphate) on the biomass of planktonic algae and cyanobacteria was studied by following the concentration of chlorophyll-a in a rice field in the middle valley. The results indicate that, in the presence of phosphate, the biomass of planktonic algae and cyanobacteria is significantly higher compared to untreated phosphate. This biomass is more important with the phospal and mixing phosphogypsum/tricalcium phosphate as phosphogypsum. This stimulating action of planktonic algae and cyanobacteria is more important for the mixture phospal phosphogypsum/tricalcium phosphate in the 3rd sampling. For this sample, it was noted a significant growth of cyanobacteria marked by the appearance of flowers of water. After the 3rd sample, the growth of planktonic algae and cyanobacteria is more sustained, which resulted in the decrease of biomass during the 4th sampling. Keywords: Biomass, algae, cyanobacteria, phosphate amendment, plankton, Senegal.
